Dr Who: Coming to a Wii and Nintendo DS Near You!

Dr Who: Coming to a Wii and Nintendo DS Near You!

In news that will excite Cory Jacobs and Justin Huemiller, two new Doctor Who games will be coming to a Nintendo console near you!  Asylum Games has partnered with BBC Worldwide to bring Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth for the Nintendo DS and Doctor Who: Return To Earth for the Wii to millions of Who fans across Europe.

The games will focus on Doctor Who and Amy Pond, the two primary protagonists from last season’s installment of the popular BBC series, and they are expected to launch in the UK, Australia and other locations across Europe.  Now the main point I wanted to drive at with this announcement of these Who games is the accessory that will come with them…  One such accessory that the Doctor is never seen without.  That’s right, folks: the sonic screwdriver.

The DS copy is expected to be bundled with a stylus shaped like a sonic screwdriver, while the Wii version will have its own stylized version of the screwdriver as the actual remote control unit.  While I haven’t seen a lot of this particular television series, I will admit that I think the sonic screwdriver is pretty darn cool, and I’m actually considering possibly buying the DS copy just to get my hands on the special stylus that it comes with.

Additionally, a “live action stage version” of the show will be launching at venues in nine cities across the UK.  I’m not entirely sure if this is going to be directly correlated to the video games, but hey, if you’re a fan of the show and are going to be in Britain in October, look into it!  But that’s all for now with my Doctor Who coverage…  If only I knew more about the show, I would be able to provide more information on these upcoming games.  I blame Cory for this at any rate, so you should too.
