Tit for Tat

In a direct response to the immediate popularity of the Darkstalkers petition, Katsuhiro Harada, Namco Bandai’s producer of fighting games, is looking for signatures to gauge the demand for a new Soul Calibur game. Harada was contacted directly on Twitter by 8WayRun.com stating that the community was dying to hear the future of the Soul Calibur series. His responded, “Bring them at my twitter and follow and post. A lot of power of the follower is necessary to persuade team.” Well, let’s tell him!

After only a few days, it looks like the petition, found here on Facebook, already has 2500+ “signatures”, surprising even the creators of the page. In the spirit of the newfound rivalry between Ono and Harada, 8WayRun’s community is calling out Shoryuken.com and Capcom-Unity into a petition war with their recent petition for a new Darkstalkers game.

It’s hard to imagine another Soul Calibur game at this point, considering the mixed reception and mediocre sales of Soul Calibur 4, but I personally would love to see an expanded roster and maybe a bit of flexibility on controlling ring outs.

Even if you’re not the biggest Soul Calibur or 3D fighting game fan, get out there and sign the petitions so we can keep our beloved genre alive and thriving!
